A635.6.3.RB - EcoSeagate
In watching and reading about EcoSeagate team development
process I can clearly see the value of this program. Team relationship building
has such vaster impact then I think most people perceive at first glance.
Speaking from experience, the teams that I have been on that have put the
investment in team bonding and relationship building are the teams that have
had the greatest outcomes. I ran at the college level and for my first 2 years
on the team coaches sent us to camp a couple states away not only to train in a
different environment but to put full focus into the relationship building
within the team.
My last year on the team consisted of a different story, we
did not go to “camp” before the season started, instead we had a minimal effort
day of bonding rather then a whole week commitment. The outcomes were stark,
and the season was filled with drama and frankly you could feel the shift of
the environment turning into a independent results first mentality which was
unfortunate. It is so apparent that this EcoSeagate team development process
yields results, even though they are not necessarily quantitative or
qualitative there is no doubting that the sort of experience bonds employees
together and strengthens the relationships, working and nonworking.
A program like that of EcoSeagate is necessary for a high-performing
organization because it instills trust and respect between employees and it
harvests a more holistic view in to strategy and your place on the team. My
organization can certainly benefit from a similar type of program as we have
steadily built out our team with new talent the past year and frankly we have
lost much of the trust and rapport with one another. Additionally, we have a
great deal of remote workers on the team, this bringing another challenge to
building trust and relationships on the team.
I hope to see at least a version of this team development program arrive
at my organization sometime soon.
